A Sophisticated French Marble Fireplace in a London flat

A March 2013 House & Garden article featured a fine quality French marble fireplace which Thornhill Galleries had supplied and installed in a large two bedroom flat in Ennismore Gardens, Knightbridge. The owners, Marianne and Peter Ross, had brought most of the antique furniture from their previous home, which they had selectively acquired over three decades, but were looking for the perfect fireplace to finish the room. Their search brought them to Thornhill Galleries where they selected a 19th century French Louis XVI style fireplace (circa 1830) in Statuary marble

The classical Louis XVI style perfectly matched the elegance of the interior design, whilst at the same time the finely carved centre of flowers and ribbons, and the stiff acanthus leaf capitals on the tapering three quarter round fluted columns provide a delicacy and softness that happily complemented the antiques and soft furnishings around it.
