An elegant antique French Louis XV-style fireplace, carved from exceptional Paonazzo marble. The serpentine shelf sits above a finely carved frieze centred by a Rococo cartouche, with scrolling decoration extending into the well-proportioned jambs. The graceful curves and restrained carving reflect the refinement of the Louis XV style.
The Paonazzo marble has a warm ivory ground with distinctive graphite veining, carefully arranged across the surround to complement the carved decoration. The natural variation of the stone adds depth and character, while highlighting the quality of the workmanship.
A fine mid-19th-century chimneypiece of exceptional marble and elegant design, suitable for both traditional and contemporary interiors.
