The shaped jambs with moulded panel decoration and scrollwork to the tops, supporting a serpentine frieze with carved scroll decoration and moulded inner edge. Shaped moulded shelf above. The marble with distinctive cream, violet, green and ochre markings throughout. French, 19th century.
