At Thornhill Galleries, we have amassed a selection of handpicked English and Irish antique stone fireplaces inspired by everything from Gothic to Georgian and more. English and Irish stone mantels were usually carved in the warm limestones of Portland, Bath and Ancaster. We have a number of rare English fireplaces in our collection, including pieces that date back to the 17th century, through to neo classical Georgian reclaimed fireplaces, and then later Regency and Victorian antique mantels. Although often more architectural in design than their marble equivalents, antique stone fireplaces can also be decoratively carved, with classical and bucolic detailings.
